“I joined Anthony Collins in March 2021 as a legal assistant in the construction department before commencing my training contract in August 2022.

I pursued a career in law to help people and make a difference, so I was initially interested in Anthony Collins because of their clear values and social purpose. I attended the open day which gave me an insight into the sectors the firm provides legal services for, while also giving me a feel for the type of workplace Anthony Collins is. To my delight, I was successful on the vacation scheme in 2021 which ultimately confirmed for me that this was the place I wanted to train at and work for.

During my first year, I sat seats in childcare (public and private law) and contentious construction law. These seats have allowed me to experience two completely different areas of law whilst also equipping me with a wide range of skills that I can take forward into my second year of training.

From day one, I have been given the opportunity to work on interesting and challenging matters with high-quality support and supervision. I have always been encouraged to get involved in as much as I can and to work with various fee earners across the departments. By doing so, I have been able to learn from a range of experienced and sector-leading solicitors.

The training contract at Anthony Collins is well structured and thought through. Trainees have the benefit of being supported by a trainee manager for each seat and an overall trainee appraiser who provides invaluable mentoring and career support across the two years. This is particularly helpful when considering your seat choices and ultimately, what area of law you would like to qualify into.”
